What is Wintergreen Couch

Wintergreen Couch grass is a dense, soft-to-touch, fine turf. This is a great all-round option for your lawn and requires less mowing, fertilisation and water than some other varieties of turf. Wintergreen Couch turf can also tolerate full sunshine, making it a low-maintenance and cost-effective option for both commercial and residential properties.

Appearance

Characterised by a medium green colour, Wintergreen Couch turf has a dense but fine leaf texture, with reasonable colour retention during the colder seasons. It is suitable for areas with high foot traffic, such as gardens, parks, and sporting grounds, and its soft texture makes it a great choice for areas frequented by children.

When mown close to the ground, it is carpet-like, smooth and non-irritating. The dense system of roots also makes it ideal for urban in-fill areas and soil stabilisation.

Preparation

When you choose to lay Wintergreen Couch turf on your property, it’s essential to make sure that you have the right type of soil to prevent water loss and nutrient deficiencies. This type of grass has a creeping deep root system and is known to self-repair and recover quickly from any damage and general wear and tear over time, without requiring much water.

Placement

Wintergreen Couch turf is best suited to areas on your property that receive the most sunlight, as it will become thin in the shade and will not grow properly. If it is well fertilised, watered properly and left to flourish in the sun during spring and autumn, however, it will maintain its gorgeous green colour.

Mowing

It’s best to mow Wintergreen Couch grass every 10 to 14 days, but this will vary from season to season. In summer, we recommend mowing the lawn every 7 to 10 days, but in winter, you only need to mow the lawn every 2 to 5 weeks.

Watering

If you don’t receive a lot of rainfall during the summer months, it’s a good idea to water your lawn between 2 to 3 times every week, but this can be reduced to once or twice a week during spring and once every 2 weeks during winter.
